It’s better known to most fans as a MotoGP venue, named after the late Italian rider Marco Simoncelli, and it has a technical, twisting character that rewards a certain kind of driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\nRaw top speed counts for less here than rhythm. The lap is full of medium-speed corners and direction changes where getting the entry right sets up everything that follows. It runs clockwise since its 2007 rebuild, and finding the last few tenths comes down to consistency and confidence rather than bravery alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For a driver still learning a new GT car, that makes it a useful test. Small mistakes compound here, and the margin between a tidy lap and a messy one shows up clearly on the timing screen. Getting comfortable enough to push takes repetition and a clear head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Across the weekend, Luca talks through what the McLaren Trophy Europe asks of him, from preparation and track knowledge to the small adjustments that add up over a session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carrying a Legacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n Motorsport has been part of Luca’s life for as long as he can remember. His father, Jan Magnussen, built a long career in sportscars after his own time in Formula 1, and his older half-brother Kevin spent a decade racing in F1 before moving into endurance racing. A name like that opens doors while also setting a high bar to clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Better Together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n This weekend wasn’t only Luca’s. Two other Supporting Emerging Talent drivers, JP Southern Jr. and Marcus Terkildsen, joined him at Misano. They race in different championships, but they keep showing up for each other across the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That’s the point of the program. Supporting Emerging Talent works as a community rather than a set of individual sponsorships, and even though its drivers race in different championships, they spend the season sharing what they pick up and backing each other’s progress. For a young driver, that kind of support is hard to put a value on and rarely visible from the outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhy We Support Talent Early<\/h2>\n\n\n\n Backing a driver this early is a bet, and it’s one we’re comfortable making because it mirrors how the company itself grew: slowly, on its own steam, long before the market paid attention. Investing in potential ahead of proof is familiar territory for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
