RACE WEEKEND, FOLKS!!! 🇨🇦

Canada is calling! Kevin Magnussen and the rest of the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team are preparing for one of the classics. The ninth round of the 2023 Formula 1 Championship takes place on one of the older circuits on the calendar, the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, located in the beautiful Montreal.

“The older circuits have a bit more character and aren’t as flat and wide as many of the newer tracks, which I like. The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is one of those classic circuits, and it’s a track that is very good for racing with the long straight. There are always good opportunities for overtaking and it’s never a dull race. There’s also often a good chance of changing weather and generally, it’s a great atmosphere at the Canadian Grand Prix,” says Kevin.

This weekend is a special one, as K-Mag also celebrates his 150th Formula 1 Grand Prix. Did Kevin ever think that he would reach that number – and what does the Dane think about his future in the Formula 1?

“As a small kid, I was dreaming of racing in Formula 1 someday and I feel very grateful to have reached this many races and have had all those years in the sport. I’m excited that I’m still around and still able to live my dream. I’m in a good spot right now. I’m in a great team of great people and I am often given the opportunity to race towards the front. I’ve had many opportunities with Haas, and I see a great future for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team. I hope I can be a part of that and see the fruits of all the hard work and progress that’s being made now,” says Kevin.

FUN FACTS: Canada became part of the Formula 1 calendar in 1967, while the Montreal circuit was formed on the man-made Ile Notre Dame in Montreal’s Saint Lawrence River in 1978. The inaugural round was won by the Canadian icon Gilles Villeneuve, after whom the circuit was named in 1982 following his tragic death in the Belgian Grand Prix. The 4.3 km long circuit is characterized by high-speed sections, medium-speed chicanes, and a couple of heavy braking zones. In other words: Guarantee for hardcore racing!

Day #2

Update from the Canadian Grand Prix where Kevin Magnussen had a challenging qualifying yesterday, missing out Q3 in the tricky conditions. However, the Admin By Request sponsored Dane has shown great pace during this week in Montreal, and we can’t wait to see the green flag at 14.00 local time. Kevin will start from a P13.

Day #3

“We need to work hard”

Recap from the ninth round of the Formula 1 World Championship in Montreal, Canada, where Kevin Magnussen finished P17 after a tough race: On lap 36, Kevin had climbed into the top 10, when he was taken wide by AlphaTauri’s Nyck de Vries, which cost several positions.

“We were just lacking pace to where we want to be and we struggled with tires again, at least more than the others, so it was a tough one. I think over one lap we have pretty good pace; we’ve shown that several times this season, but we need to work hard on trying to keep that strength for the race,” said Kevin after the race.
